Wyoming plans we compare
What’s different about health insurance in Wyoming.
Every state runs its individual market a little differently. These are the rules that matter most if you buy your own coverage here.
Read the Wyoming FAQ- Wyoming uses HealthCare.gov. Open enrollment for 2027 runs November 1, 2026 to January 15, 2027; pick a plan by December 15 for a January 1 start.
- Only two insurers sell Marketplace plans for 2026: Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming and UnitedHealthcare. Mountain Health CO-OP left at the end of 2025.
- Before subsidies, Wyoming has the second-highest average Marketplace premiums in the country, and 2026 rates rose about 26% on average.
- The enhanced federal subsidies ended after 2025, so income above 400% of poverty now means no premium tax credit.
- Wyoming has not expanded Medicaid. Adults without children earning under 100% of poverty fall into a coverage gap.
- State continuation law lets you keep a small employer's group plan for up to 12 months.
However you got here, there’s a better plan than the first one you were offered.

No. Wyoming uses the federal Marketplace at HealthCare.gov. Open enrollment for 2027 coverage runs from November 1, 2026 to January 15, 2027, and you need to choose a plan by December 15 for coverage to start January 1.
Before subsidies, Wyoming's average Marketplace premiums are the second highest in the country. Average 2026 rates rose about 26%, and enrollment fell after the enhanced subsidies ended, which tends to leave a sicker group of members. Most enrollees still get a premium tax credit that brings their cost down a lot.
The insurers have asked for more increases. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming proposed an average of 9.3% and UnitedHealthcare 25.4%, about 11.3% on average. The biggest effect falls on people with income above 400% of poverty who get no subsidy.
