Pennsylvania plans we compare
What’s different about health insurance in Pennsylvania.
Every state runs its individual market a little differently. These are the rules that matter most if you buy your own coverage here.
Read the Pennsylvania FAQ- Pennsylvania runs its own marketplace, Pennie, so you enroll at pennie.com rather than HealthCare.gov.
- Open enrollment for 2027 coverage runs November 1, 2026 to January 15, 2027; sign up by December 15 for a January 1 start.
- Enhanced federal tax credits ended after 2025, and Pennie estimated current enrollees' costs rose 102% on average for 2026.
- Pennsylvania's mini-COBRA lets workers at employers with 2 to 19 employees keep group coverage for up to 9 months.
- Medicaid is expanded to adults up to 138% of the poverty level, but work requirements and six-month renewals start in January 2027.
- The state still enforces a four-month total limit on short-term plans even though federal enforcement stopped.
However you got here, there’s a better plan than the first one you were offered.

Yes. Starting in 2027, many lawfully present immigrants other than green card holders lose eligibility for tax credits, and the monthly low-income special enrollment period with financial help is gone. Log in, update your income and compare plans rather than letting your plan renew on its own.
