Maryland plans we compare
What’s different about health insurance in Maryland.
Every state runs its individual market a little differently. These are the rules that matter most if you buy your own coverage here.
Read the Maryland FAQ- Maryland runs its own exchange, and open enrollment for 2027 coverage runs November 1, 2026 to January 15, 2027.
- Enhanced federal tax credits ended after 2025, but Maryland Premium Assistance replaces some or all of that help for incomes under 400% of poverty.
- Adults age 18 to 37 can get an extra state young adult subsidy on top of federal and state help.
- A state reinsurance program keeps full-price premiums roughly 30% to 35% lower than they would be without it.
- Maryland continuation law lets you keep insured group coverage for up to 18 months after leaving a job, even at small employers.
- Short-term plans are capped at three months with no renewals.
However you got here, there’s a better plan than the first one you were offered.
