Arkansas plans we compare
What’s different about health insurance in Arkansas.
Every state runs its individual market a little differently. These are the rules that matter most if you buy your own coverage here.
Read the Arkansas FAQ- Arkansas runs its own Marketplace on the federal platform, and you enroll through HealthCare.gov. Open enrollment for 2027 runs November 1, 2026 to January 15, 2027.
- Approved 2026 individual rates rose an average of 22.2%, the largest one-year increase on record in Arkansas.
- The 2026 average benchmark Silver premium for a 40-year-old was $774 a month before subsidies, according to KFF.
- Medicaid expansion (ARHOME) covers adults up to 138% of the poverty level through private plans, with a work requirement enforced starting January 1, 2027.
- State continuation lets you keep a former employer's insured group plan for only 120 days, and you must elect it within 10 days.
- Short-term plans can last up to 36 months in total under a 2025 state bulletin, but they do not cover pre-existing conditions the way ACA plans do.
However you got here, there’s a better plan than the first one you were offered.

Arkansas runs a state-based Marketplace that uses the federal enrollment platform. The Arkansas Insurance Department oversees the plans, but you apply and enroll through HealthCare.gov. Open enrollment for 2027 coverage runs November 1, 2026 to January 15, 2027.
Two things happened at once. The state approved an average 22.2% rate increase for individual plans, and the enhanced federal tax credits expired at the end of 2025. Insurers cited both the end of the extra credits and the coming Medicaid work requirement as reasons for higher rates.
Pick a plan by December 15, 2026 and pay your first premium. If you enroll between December 16 and January 15, coverage starts February 1.
